NICOLAS SURSOCK MUSEUM REHABILITATION (2023)

Rehabilitation work at the NICOLAS SURSOCK MUSEUM, which was severely damaged by the Beirut port explosion.

BETABAT, which carried out the Museum’s extension between 2010 and 2013, has carried out all rehabilitation works, both interior and exterior, under a contract with UNESCO. All the facades have been restored, the stained-glass windows re-manufactured and installed, and all the electromechanical systems refurbished. Architectural damage, masonry, paintwork, woodwork, the suspended ceiling, and waterproofing have been repaired.

The Italian government financed the majority of the work, in partnership with ALIPH, French Ministry of Culture and other international partners, as well as private donors and supporters of the Museum.
